Tatiana Alquati Takes Top Prize in Saint Petersburg Harp Competition

Tatiana Alquati is First Prize winner of the 2014 Saint Petersburg "Golden Harp" competition.

Results are in for the 3rd International Harp Competition—Golden Harp—held Sept. 15–22, 2014, in Saint Petersburg, Russia. The winners are:

First prize: Tatiana Alquati (Italy)
Second prize: Alexandra Tikhonova (Russia)
Third prize: Agne Keblyte (Lithuania) and Joel Philippe Von Lerber (Switzerland)
Special prize for the Tchaikovsky piece (The Seasons): Alexandra Rzavceva (Russia)

Twenty harpists from 14 countries took part in this year’s competition, coming from Austria, Argentina, Hungary, Israel, Italy, China, Columbia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Russia, Romania, France, Switzerland, and Japan. The main goal of the competition is “to attract and support young talented musicians, take part in their professional development, help them realize their artistic potential, establish new contacts, and give an opportunity for musicians from different countries to exchange their experience,” says Art Director Anna Makarova, harpist with the Saint-Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra.

The competition jury included harpists Jana Buskova, Anna Makarova, Maria Luisa Rayan-Forero, Florence Sitruk, along with other instrumentalists (see the full jury).
