Taking the Met audition?

May 11, 2015

GOOD LUCK!!

A handful of my harp friends are taking the Metropolitan Opera audition this week. The last audition I took was for the Curtis harp studio after my masters. Although I was not accepted, and I thought my harp career was over, in a way I still felt like I had won. My chops were in my personal best and I was proud of the audition I gave. Having the courage to even audition is a hurdle in itself. I prepared the audition requirements for Juilliard when I was looking at grad schools and never applied. I was afraid of rejection. But what’s the worst that could happen? You learn a bunch of rep and excerpts and you’re ready for the next audition!

So congratulations to all of you who have been invited to audition for this prestigious position. I wish you the very best and a whole lotta relaxation after it’s OVER! 🙂
