A unique program for lever and pedal harpists of all levels to immerse themselves in a week of lessons, ensembles and workshops with exceptional teachers and enjoy the camaraderie of similarly motivated students. Participants feel supported to explore their instrument in depth, according to their own goals and abilities. All students and faculty reside at the spectacular Sanctum Retreat sharing meals, laughter, quiet walks, spontaneous jam sessions and fireside chats.
CISHI 2018 will take place in a beautiful and tranquil location about 1 1/2 hr drive northwest of Calgary (www.sanctumretreat.ca). For students flying into Calgary, CISHI staff will be happy to help with arranging a ride-share with local participants or a shuttle if need be.
Our returning students say it all: “I’ve attended several harp festivals and one other one week ‘harp camp’. CISHI was by far the most integrated, the most rewarding, and the most fun thus far. Well worth the 2000 km/ 1400 miles of travel!” Karen Jougla Shelton (Santa Barbara, CA USA)
“I had the good fortune, this summer, to attend CISHI 2013. The calibre of teaching was first class and I came away from the experience with renewed inspiration as well as many practical “tools” and ideas that I know will enhance my playing. All the students had the opportunity to work individually with several teachers as well as a chance to play together in an ensemble and to attend workshops on important technical aspects of playing, experimenting with Brazilian rhythms and strategies for staying healthy, strong and minimizing the risk of injury. The atmosphere was supportive, focused, responsive and personalized. There was a genuine spirit of congeniality shared by our group, bringing together a range of ages and skill levels and we had the pleasure of hearing each other perform at the student recitals. There was a good balance of lessons, practice time – and enough free time to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings …” Pamela Jeffrey (Vancouver, BC, Canada)
