Harpist Stephanie Gustafson has won the principal harp position with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra following an August 29 audition. She will leave her post with the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, where she became principal harpist in May, 2014.

“One thing I’m looking forward to is participating in the large number of holiday performances, including a pops cycle, brass concerts all around the community, and Nutcracker, all squeezed into two weeks,” said Gustafson. The upcoming season with the BRSO also includes Scottish Fantasy in E-flat major, Op. 46 by Max Bruch, and Symphony No. 1 “Afro-American” by William Grant Still, with conductors Timothy Muffitt, and associate conductor David Torns.

Gustafson earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois in Urbana Champaign in 2011, and a Master’s degree from Manhattan School of Music in 2013.
