Harpists Isabelle Perrin and Erik Groenestein-Hendriks have designed a new five-day harp course to take place in Gothenburg, Sweden on March 29 – April 2, 2018. The program will include a total of five private lessons with Perrin and Groenestein-Hendriks, in addition to masterclasses, orchestral sessions, and a mock audition. They will be joined by Alexander Technique specialist Stephen Parker, who will give each participant individual and group lessons that will emphasize the direct application of the technique to each student’s playing.
“To make this course even more special than any other that could already exist, at the end of the course, there will be a mock type audition for all the participants who wish it,” says Perrin. “Erik, who is principal harpist with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, will offer the winner [the opportunity] to play second harp for a concert series with him and his orchestra! A really great and rewarding prize!” She adds, “Join us next Easter in Gothenburg!”
Perrin teaches at the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in London. She was the co-principal harpist with the Orchestre National de France for 25 years and is currently the Artistic Director for the World Harp Congress. Groenestein-Hendricks has been the principal harpist with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra since 2013 and teaches at the Högskolan för Scen och Musik at the University of Gothenburg. Prior to his move to Gothenburg, he was the harpist with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Santiago in Chile.
