Marco Salvi has been appointed new President and CEO of Lyon & Healy Harps and Salvi Harps, effective immediately, according to a statement issued by Lyon & Healy on June 25. He replaces former president Antonio Forero, featured in Harp Column’s May-June 2014 issue. Marco Salvi is the eldest son of the late Victor Salvi, founder of Salvi Harps, who passed away on May 10. “Marco has acted as head of investment banking in various institutions. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with degrees in economics and business administration,” said Lyon and Healy and Salvi. “Marco grew up in the harp world and has a unique understanding of the craftsmanship necessary to build a quality instrument. Having studied harp at the Genoa Conservatory, he as well understands the technique and dedication necessary to play one. Marco brings a great mix of leadership and inspiration as we charge ahead as businesses committed to the craft of world-renowned harpmaking.”

“Lyon & Healy Harps and Salvi Harps are cherished brands with a combined history of 187 years of building harps,” said Salvi. “I am honored to lead the companies and their employees forward as we continue to deliver quality instruments and service to harpists.”

Victor Salvi constructed his first harp in 1954. Founded in 1864 in Chicago, Lyon & Healy Harps built its first pedal harp in 1889. The companies are part of a business group that manufactures and distributes globally both brands of lever and pedal harps.
