Harp Traditions of Latin America Festival

The Orange County Children’s Therapeutic Arts Center will present a Latin American Harp Festival and Concert June 25–28, in Santa Ana, Calif. Master harpists from México, Paraguay, and Colombia, accompanied by international ensemble musicians, will present three days of workshops in harp and accompanying instruments in the musical traditions of Paraguay, “Jarocho” of Veracruz, Mexico, and “Llanero” of Colombia. The Festival will also include a free cultural exchange roundtable hosted by the Mexican Consulate on June 26, and will culminate with a “Concert of the Masters” on June 28. Each type of music will be highlighted during a segment of the concert, and students of the music workshops will share the stage with the Maestros during the concert’s grand finale.

Appearing at the festival will be Jarocho harp specialist Alberto de la Rosa, from Veracruz, Mexico; Cesar DAniel Lopez from Paraguay; Carlos Quintero, a specialist in the Llanaro harp tradition from Colombia; Alberto Sanabria, of Paraguay; and Carlos Quintero, of Colombia.
