Gwenllian Llyr selected as artist with CMF

February 4, 2018

Welsh harpist Gwenllian Llyr was recently selected as an artist with City Music Foundation. The two-year program gives highly talented young professionals the tools necessary to create and sustain successful musical careers, including workshops, one-on-one business mentoring sessions, and projects to help each artist facilitate their niche. Llyr shares, “I was ecstatic when I heard the news that I’d been selected as an artist! It has been great to meet other artists in similar positions, trying to carve our own paths in the music world, and I’m really looking forward to meeting my mentors and expanding my network. It’s going to be an exciting couple of years.”

Artists are selected through an annual application and audition process, with two programs running concurrently. “We believe that by investing in these talented musicians early in their professional careers, we can not only secure their employment, but help to ensure the future of quality music in the UK and beyond,” says CMF.

Llyr was a prize-winner at the USA International Harp Competition in 2013, and won the blue ribbon at the National Eisteddfod of Wales in 2012 and first prize at the 2010 London Camac Harp Competition. She teaches at King’s College, London and the Latymer Music Centre in North London. She received an Advanced Diploma from the Royal Academy of Music in London, a Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School, and graduated with honors from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

To hear more of Llyr, her debut album, Dusk to Dawn, was released in Nov. 2017. For more information, you can visit her website at http://gwenllianllyr.co.uk, and to read more about CMF, visit http://www.citymusicfoundation.org/
