Grace Browning Wins Dallas Opera Audition

Grace Browning is the new harpist with the Dallas Opera orchestra.
April 22, 2014

Grace Browning is the new Principal Harpist with the Dallas Opera orchestra, following an audition on March 9, 2014. She’ll join the orchestra for their 2014–2015 season beginning with Strauss’Salome. “I couldn’t ask for a much better way to dive into the job,” says Browning, whose upcoming season also includes Puccini’s La Boheme, Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, Catalini’s La Wally, and the Dallas Opera premiere Everest, by Joby Talbot.

“I’m particularly excited to be playing with this wonderful opera company because it will be the first opportunity in my career to experience playing in an opera orchestra, rather than a symphony orchestra. In this setting, I’ll encounter some new and exciting challenges: following singers and conductors simultaneously, learning an entirely new collection of repertoire, and keeping up my focus during multi-hour productions.”

Browning will leave the New World Symphony, in Miami, where she currently serves as the harp fellow.
