browning-graceGrace Browning is the new principal harpist with the Santa Fe Opera summer festival, following the departure of Emily Levin, who recently won the principal harp position with the Dallas Symphony. Browning will fill the vacancy left by Danis Kelly, who announced her retirement in June.

“I am thrilled to be joining such a wonderful community of musicians in a beautiful part of the world!” Browning says. “I recently heard that they will be premiering a new opera about Steve Jobs in 2017, composed by one of my favorite contemporary composers, Mason Bates, who incorporates gorgeous electronics into his music. I’m excited to see this story come to life!”

Browning is also the principal harpist with the Dallas Opera and will hold the two positions concurrently as their seasons do not overlap. “Dallas is a great city with a booming downtown arts district; it’s exciting to be in a place where there is so much enthusiasm for the arts, ” Browning says. In addition to performing, Browning is a music teaching artist for the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. In her spare time, Browning says she stays as active as possible with CrossFit, hot yoga, running and running.  “It’s worked wonders for my playing and mental toughness in performance,” she says.
