Hi, I have a simple question. When you change a worn out string on a pedal harp, is it better to cut the string at full tension rather than loosen it with the tuning key, or does it not really matter? I’m just wondering if it wears out the tuning pin faster if you loosen the string to take it off.

Loosen the string off. The tuning pins are designed for that use.

Be especially careful when cutting those wire strings. Even with tension off they can rebound; ALWAYS use eye protection when dealing with them.
