Dutch Harp Festival Announces Competition Rep

The Dutch Harp Festival has announced the required repertoire for its next competition, which will take place Feb. 26–March 2, 2014. The First Prize winner will receive €10,000 along with a concert tour; other prizes range from €2,500 to €5,000. The competition includes three live stages, concluding with a final concerto round. Contestants may choose from Harp concerto (Reinecke, Carl)Concerto for Harp and Orchestra in E-flat Major, op. 74 ( Gliere, Reinhold), or Harp Concerto (Ginastera, Alberto) to perform with orchestra (with the artistic committee choosing one movement to be performed), in addition to the newly commissioned New Harp Concerto (Patterson, Paul) and a free choice “storytelling” work.

Entries will be received from September 1, 2013–December 1, 2013, and must be accompanied by a Preliminary Round audio recording. For entry details and to view the complete list of repertoire, visit www.harpfestival.nl/competition.
