Greek harpist Elisa Vellia is the inspiration behind the Ulysse model harp.
Camac harps has unveiled the Ulysse model lever harp, specifically designed to travel easily. The 34-string harp weighs just under 20 pounds and is built of carbon fiber and titanium with a spruce soundboard. The harp is available in a variety of color finishes and also comes with a microphone system. Following their tradition of pairing with an artist in the creation of a new model, Camac’s inspiration for the Ulysse came from Greek harpist Elisa Vellia, who wanted a harp suitable for international travel. “After months of work, Jakez François, our master craftsmen, and our in-house engineers have turned this vision into reality,” says Camac in the announcement on their Harpblog. Vellia, who now resides in the Bretagne region of France, where Camac maintains their factory, will debut the Ulysse in a concert at Camac’s Paris showroom on Sunday, March 8.
