AHS Foundation announces 2018 Anne Adams Awards

Donezetti's famous cadenza from the opera "Lucia de Lamermoor" is among the require repertoire for the 2018 Anne Adams Awards Competition.

The American Harp Society Foundation has announced details for its 2018 Anne Adams Awards, which will take place May 29–June 1, 2018, prior to the AHS National Conference in Redlands, Calif. Three winners will receive $2,000 each for full-time study of the harp, along with a $500 gift certificate from Lyon & Healy Harps. Winners will also be invited to perform in a concert at the AHS National Conference in Redlands. The competition, which is open to members of the American Harp Society who are enrolled full time in a college, university, or other post-high school institution, was founded in 1990 by Burton Adams in honor of his wife Anne.

2018 Anne Adams Awards required repertoire

Choose one of the following:

  • Pièce de concert, Op. 32, by Büsser
  • Scintillation, by Salzedo
  • Ballade Fantastique, by Renié
  • Fantaisie sur un thème de l’opéra Eugène Onegin, by Walter-Kühne

Choose one of the following:

  • Divertissement à l’espagnole, by Caplet
  • Divertissement à la française, by Caplet
  • Etude Number 2 from the Bach/Grandjany Etudes, by Bach
  • Ukiyo-e (Pictures of the Floating World), by Rochberg

Orchestra/Choral (both are required):

  • Lucia Di Lammermoor cadenza (any version), by Donizetti
  • A Ceremony of Carols, by Britten
