Tenure for Marguerite Lynn Williams

Marguerite Lynn Williams is principal harpist with the Lyric Opera Orchestra in Chicago.
January 20, 2013

Marguerite Lynn Williams has received tenure at the Lyric Opera Orchestra, which provides music for the Lyric Opera of Chicago. The orchestra held auditions in March, 2011, and Williams began as principal harpist in September, 2011. The probationary period is typically two seasons long, according to Williams, who received the notification earlier than she was expecting. “Playing in an opera orchestra is great fun and constantly a challenge,” she reports. “The repertoire for harp is very soloistic. Right now we are about to open Wagner’s Die Meistersinger, which has a huge harp solo accompanying the Beckmesser character. I’m very excited to be a permanent member of the Lyric Opera Orchestra family and look forward to many years of music making!”
