Stephanie Gustafson Amfahr Wins Annapolis Symphony Audition

May 27, 2014

Stephanie Gustafson Amfahr is the new principal harpist with the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, following an audition that took place May 23. 14 harpists auditioned for the per-service position, which begins with the 2014-2015 season. “It sounds like the conductor (Jose-Luiz Novo) is taking the orchestra in the right direction,” says Stephanie. “People seem to be really happy with him and desirous of expanding the orchestra. I’m really excited about the season—amongst other great things, they’re doing Ein Heldenleben and Ravel’s Tombeau de Couperin.

Stephanie formerly served as Principal Harpist with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Santiago, in Satiago Chile. She received a MM degree from the Manhattan School of Music in 2013, studying with Deborah Hoffman, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, studying with Ann Yeung.
