New Composition Award for Sacred Music

The Mabel Fulton Weiger Harp Composition Competition for Sacred Music will award $500 to the winning composition of a new work for harp. The award is sponsored by harpist Barbara Weiger Lepke Sims, the Colorado Music Society, and Abundant Silence Publishing. The winning composer will also receive publication of the new work through Abundant Silence Publishing and a performance streamed online through the company’s Opening Night Live concert of new works.

The purpose of the competition is “to expand the repertoire of the harp in a sacred setting,” according to the competition web page. Entries must be a minimum of two minutes and can be written for harp solo, harp and choir, harp and vocalist, harp and organ, or harp and other instruments. Composers must be at least 18 years of age. The deadline for entry is May 31, 2015.
