At least two harpists have received Grammy nomination consideration. We’re not entirely sure what that means, but what the heck, we think you should know about it. Maria Lusia Rayan-Forero is being considered for a nomination under Best Classical Instrumental solo for her June 2012 CD release From Bach to Piazolla. Grace Cloutier can be heard with the Etherea Vocal Ensemble on their November 2012 release Ceremony of Carols, which is being considered for a nomination in the Best Small Ensemble category. Do you know of any other harpists on the Grammy radar this year? Let us know atinfo@harpcolumn.com.

Update: We’ve just found out that Duo Scorpio’s Scorpion Tales new release is also receiving Grammy consideration in three categories! The recording is being considered for Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance; Best Contemporary Classical Composition for composer Robert Paterson’s title piece “Scorpion Tales”; and Producer of the Year (Adam Abeshouse, producer). Kudos to Duo Scorpio.
