Hymn to the Dawn is Grace Cloutier’s new recording with the Etherea Vocal Ensemble, which she co-founded in 2008 with Artistic Director and countertenor Derek Greten-Harrison.”This album contains several world premieres and includes recordings of some rare works by Gustav Holst for treble voices and harp, such as Choral Hymns from the Rig Veda, and Two Eastern Pictures,” says Cloutier. “Both of these works are rarely performed and this is one of the only existing recordings.” The album also includes Prokofiev’s Prelude in C Major for solo harp. “The Prokofiev was inspired by my teacher Nancy’s Allen’s recording (Angel Records, 1981),” says Cloutier.

Other tracks include: Three Shakespeare Choruses, by Amy Beach;(Wie lieblich sind deine Wohnungen, by Josef Rheinberger; Sechs Gesänge, by Josef Rheinberger; Drei Motetten, by Felix Mendelssohn; and Trois choeurs religieux, by Gioachino Rossini. The album is on the Delos label and is currently available on iTunes and Amazon. A hardcopy will be available on January 29th.
