So I’m hoping to one day do Dee Sweeney’s course and become a therapeutic harpist. But financially we are not yet ready to make the commitment (I hope soon).

I’d like to read one text which could, as comprehensively as possibly, give me a great overview of the subject.

Can anyone recommend such a text to me? I’d love to get started. (Also, any books for harp therapy music.)

    You could start here:

Laurie was one of the early founders of MHTP (Music for Healing and Transition).

Following her link to therapeuticmusician.com leads to the home page for the US National Standards Board for Therapeutic Musicians. Moving to their bookstore…..this looks pretty comprehensive:

    Thank you, Biagio!

I am looking into therapeutic music rather than music therapy. Basically where one plays harp for the bed-ridden, but not necessarily interactively. Like MHTP and Dee Sweeney’s program too.

Several of the Harp Therapy websites have reading lists on their websites. Even if you’re not interested in interactive therapy, you would benefit from checking out other websites.
