I’m a professional classical musician (organ/piano) who has been learning lever harp (34 string Dusty Strings Crescendo). I’m looking for repertoire that is classical, preferably composed for harp, very harpistic, and of some length (3-5 minutes or more). Last year I learned “The Little Fountain” by Samuel O. Pratt and loved it. I’m moderately good at flipping levers. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Classics on Request, Vol 1 and Vol 2, arranged for lever harp by Barbara Brundage. http://www.seasidemusic.com. She makes her arrangements as close to the original as possible. Excellent arrangements that work equally well on pedal harp. I believe Melody Folk Harp carries the books. If so, you can see a sample page on the website http://www.folkharp.com

While looking for some music, I came across more classical music for lever harp:

Medieval to Modern, Vol 1 & 2, Samuel Milligan
Music for Dauphines and Troubadors, S. and R. Pratt
    Adagios, Kathryn Cater
Dance Suite in F, Darhon Rees-Rohrbacher
Handel for the Harp, Rhett Barnwell

Sample pages available on websites http://www.harpconnection.com or http://www.folkharp.com

Thanks so much for your suggestions, Gretchen. It’s taken me a while between vacations and life changes, but I’ve looked over several of them and others online, and come up with a couple of pieces by Annie Challan that seem to fit the bill: Broceliande and Cascatelle (this piece is from “Collection for Celtic Harp”). I’ll keep your lists for future reference.

You might also like some of Bernard Andres’s pieces: the ones that spring first to mind are La Gimblette, Automates, or the more advanced and less classically classical Epices. The shorter pieces string together well into sets.

There are a few jewels in y Telynor Clasurol = The Classical Harpist – compiled by Christopher Powell – easier versions of Handel’s Chaconne, Sonatina, Pasacaille, Carillon & Purcell’s Hornpipe, Croft’s Adagio. This is new to me, not trivial for pupils and three pieces are AB grade 3 list A. Sightly confusing are the lever markings 3C#, 3Ab referring to 3rd C# and 3rd A flat, I guess they are precise at least.

Look at the Royal Conservatory of Music Syllabus, which is available online. They have a lot of suggestions for lever harp, graded for difficulty. There are other syllabi as well, such as Trinity College in the UK and ABRSM.
