Humility
Last month, while reading the cover story of the January/February issue of the Harp Column, I stopped and read the last paragraph over, no less than 6 times. In it, Elizabeth Fontan Binoche says: Everything is possible if we have the will to do it, and the humbleness to do it. Humbleness is the most important of all. To realize that we make mistakes, to be able to accept that humbleness and then be able to give more the next time. I could not have read this at a more opportune time. As I recently had a less-than perfect performance…okay, I messed up pretty badly. I really beat myself up about it and listed every excuse and reason as to why it happened. -I know I’m human, but… -If I had seen the music before the rehearsal… -If I knew the other parts better… -If we had more time I drove myself nuts for weeks! Sure, in the grand scheme of things I’m sure it’s not a huge deal, but to me, it was, and still is! Elizabeth Fontan Binoche’s words are finally sinking in. “Humbleness is the most important of all. To realize that we make mistakes, to be able to accept that humbleness and then be able to give more the next time.” We’re human, and we’re not perfect. Life is a work in progress. 09:27 AM, 22 Feb 2008 by Brandee Younger | Permalink | Comments (0) |
